I soooo enjoyed this read! So refreshing! I have so many writers I'm subscribed to but this has been the first essay I truly felt drawn to read in a very long time. I think it had gotten to be information overload. I related so much to what you said about who I'm writing for. Myself or others. The others part had gotten exhausting and I had lost the joy and connection with just writing for myself as a journaler since my youth as well. So thank you for this!! Soo refreshing! (and you are a writer!)😉🤗
aww thank you so much for this Sherry! i’m so glad you enjoyed it. i’m so tired of trying to create the perfect piece for others, i forgot what feels good for me. and i hope i found it back. 🤎
We sound like we are in the same place. I was about to leave Substack altogether for my peace of mind but I like how you have processed and come to peace with your writing journey. 🧘🏾
Same! All of this. The platform the overwhelm, the lack of zip for posting after a couple years on here the serious lack of zeal to read. But yes, I enjoyed this and it may have saved me for another m
Very much enjoyed this on so many levels. !!!!! yes, tell me what's your life like. What you're doing. Just an inside look, that's what memoir is for. This platform has gotten exhausting and I was thinking about going back to just a regular ol blog and may still...this is the same as blogger in 2008. Just more crowded. I wish there was a place for memoir and non fiction to find each other more efficiently. And you my friend, ARE A WRITER. And this is your second language? Sheesh. Keep going. If you want, of course. :-)
aww thank you Michele, i’m so glad you found me and i found you 🫶 i value all the writers here but sometimes all i want to hear is someone else’s ordinary life - otherwise i find it hard to relate.
and thank you thank you so much for your compliments and calling me a writer, what an honour! 🤎
